Such a practical wisdom from HH Radhanath Swami. Unfortunately this is the case these days for most of us. There is need to seriously consider the objectives of our lives and align our lives to achieve the ultimate goal of life by keeping the higher principles in the center and not the expectations of others who may just be exploiting us in name of many other relationships.

Very true! Most of us are living our lives not according to our wish but of others. That sort of life has no meaning.
The opposite is also true: to only distance yourself from the expectations of others will still hold you in the burden of it.
To acknowledge expectations and move according to your own task will remove the burden, so that expectations can be perceived as fortunate as it allows you to see better where you’re at and where you’re going; refining your own expectations.
