Radhanath Swami tells whose association we should seek

George Washington, the first president of United States and the general of the American army who fought against the British, said, “We must keep the company of people who will enliven and inspire character and high ideals.” He explained, “Better than associating with anyone with low integrity is to just remain alone for the rest of your life.”

Association is so important. Please come together to associate with people who are sincerely striving for the highest values of life, and who apply them to their occupation, to their family, and to their whole vision in life.

Equally important to avoid bad company on the internet. The virtual world is sometimes more dangerous than the real. Carefully consider friend requests before u accept them!

    • Kiran Shetty

Yes or that’s very true, its so dangerous – now a days even childerens are given free acees to internet and gadgets such as IPad and other instruments, without understandanding the effects of it. Because children’s mind are like sponge which absorbs whatever its in contact with!!

      • Kalpana Kulkarni

Yes! I have seen very young children handling these gadgets and it is very difficult to keep track of what they are looking at. Very dangerous situation!

    • Kalpana Kulkarni

Very true! the internet, though very useful can be one’s biggest enemy if we do not take proper care.

    • Navin Poojary

Good point Gopinath Chandra pr! Current world is about virtual connection, friends, social media etc. In such times we should be carefull what or whom we are connecting with. Also nice quote you shared by Radhanath swami which can act as a guiding principle in this regard

      • Gopinath Chandra

Also virtual farming, I have heard 🙂

  • Srivats

Very true prabhu. I too am seeking devotee association but rather am forced to
associate with people who have a disposition worse than the street urchins in my school.
Perhaps it is my karmic reaction. Begging for some devotee association in my locality

    • Kalpana Kulkarni

I’m sure you will be able to get some association of devotees in your locality. Where are you located?

  • brajswaminidd

The solution provided here is very good: associate (whether thru internet or actually) one who positively inspires or better stay alone!

    • Kalpana Kulkarni

Internet is fine but it is through physical association when we can interact with devotees personally that it really helps us to grow.

  • Sanjiv

THere is often the tendency to think that i can do it on my own but one great Acharya has also mentioned that if one thinks that he can advance in spirituality alone than he is insane, which means to associate with those with high values is a MUST

    • Kalpana Kulkarni

Very true, we cannot do it without the association of devotees.

  • Srivallabhi dd

Very true it is better to stay alone than to associate with bad company , associate with person with high spiritual value.

  • Kalpana Kulkarni

True! Association with like minded people is very important for our spiritual growth. As they say a person is judged by the company he/she keeps.By associating with the right kind of people, we get positive vibrations which will help us to develop faith, integrity, enthusiasm and dedication.
